Food Pantry Manager

VOLUNTEER

We have a very specific volunteer need...

FOOD PANTRY MANAGER

The position of Food Pantry Manager would include the oversight of the pantry operation and workers under the direction of the Center of Hope Director. This would be approximately 20 hours per week on different days and times. We are unable to provide an hourly wage and this is a purely volunteer position, however, working at the Center of Hope is a very rewarding experience.

The Center of Hope Food Pantry is different than most food pantry programs in that it's set up like a small food market. Guests are given an appointment time where they "shop" with a volunteer helper and choose only the items they want.

Currently CoH offers three shopping times, Tuesday evening, Wednesday evening, and Thursday morning.  There are three designated teams, one per shopping time, of approximately six volunteers. In between the shopping times shelves are restocked by a different group of volunteers.

On Tuesday mornings the CoH box truck is taken to pick up more food for the coming week. This includes both shelf stable foods as well as frozen meat and fresh produce.  Upon its return a team of volunteers sorts and stores new items.

Currently the Center of Hope serves around 60 families representing about 120 individuals, per week. That number is rapidly growing though and additional shopping times will need to be added soon. In order for this to happen more volunteer stockers will be needed. These volunteers must be guided and supervised by an experienced store manager or supervisor. This supervisory job is one of many taken on by the Center of Hope director. We desperately need a capable individual to assume the bulk of this job so he can focus on other, equally important tasks!

Who we're looking for:

  • Someone who is perhaps retired and looking to give back.
  • Someone with knowledge of retail or grocery store experience.
  • Someone who knows how to properly stock and rotate food on shelves.
  • Someone able to manage a group of workers and assign and explain tasks.
  • Someone who is organized.
  • Someone who likes working with others.
  • Someone who has a heart for helping people in need.

The Center of Hope is a Christian organization and operates according to Biblical principles. While we accept those with different beliefs, we do ask that all volunteers adhere to policies that reflect our principles.
